Weeknotes for 2024-W36
Published
This is my first attempt at doing weeknotes. It’s giving journal-y vibes mixed with daily standup “what did you do yesterday? what are you doing today?” Q&A.
Weird week with the US holiday (Labor Day) on Monday. Ultimately a very condensed week, which isn’t strictly a bad thing. Just different and busy with plenty going on the next couple weeks.
Reading
Trying to read Red Rising for my friend Parker. :)
Brian’s book will be in my hands oh-so-soon and I’m excited to read that when it lands.
Writing
Trying out this weeknotes thing. Also, the weeknotes.sh
script that helps scaffold each weeknote, specifically the ISO 8601 compliant string.
Doing
Prepping for a long weekend in Eau Claire (which will have happened when you’ve read this) followed by InsightFest 2024 the weekend afterwards (which will be the upcoming weekend when you read this). Yeesh, maintaining the correct tense is hard because I’m writing this sort of in the past…for the future…? Hopefully I’ll do a more proper full post for InsightFest.
Twin Cities Hack Night was this week which is always a treat: free pizza & beer plus good vibes. I got around to publishing a v1 release of a personal project, bic. I wrote about it if you’re curious to know more.
Otherwise, starting a couple contracts. One is part-time for the next couple months and the other is a couple week trial period that I’m hoping leads to some consistent full-time work for the foreseeable future. It’s been years since I’ve used Vue in production and I’d love to be able to do so again.
Treating this more like a standup: what I’m planning on doing is more contract work, seeing Dead by April live in Minneapolis with a good friend, and doing some last-minute work to my Insight in preparation for InsightFest.
I love hearing from readers so please feel free to reach out.
