TIL “The Tech Resume” Is Free If Jobless

Published

tl;dr Gergely Oroszs The Tech Resume Inside Out is free for unemployed tech folk.

Yesterday I was at a local coffee shop co-working event meeting new local tech-y humans and catching up with ones I’ve met before. One of these nifty humans, Andrew Tapper, suggested we do a quick resume swap for some off-the-cuff feedback. After struggling to figure out how to AirDrop a PDF between computers, I was off to the races as they say.

Andrew quickly brought up one of the bullet points towards the top where I flex my recent technical writing publications. You should link to them,” he said. And followed this up by referencing a section in the aforementioned The Tech Resume” where Gergely shows examples of resume bullet points where someone might say they wrote technical articles” versus wrote technical articles including hyperlink one, two, and three.”

This felt fairly obvious to me and yet I had completely overlooked doing it myself. Additionally, this led me to finding out I could get the book for free since I’m unemployed and actively looking for work. The process is pretty easy: fill out your basic information, share a post on LinkedIn, and wait for the manual confirmation. I got it downloaded today and am looking forward to giving it a read.

I love hearing from readers so please feel free to reach out.
