Rote Learning HTML & CSS

“bore you to death in the best possible way”
—Geoff Graham on CSS-Tricks Quick Hit #11
I had to look up rote. Here’s what I got:
Rote refers to the process of learning something through repetition, rather than by understanding it.
Jens absolutely delivers with a free e-book that enumerates HTML elements & attributes along with CSS selectors & properties.
Even Jens calls it boring in the first sentence:
“This is one of the most boring books you’ll ever read.”
Sure, it’s dense, but it’s also a really great no-frills reference. As an example, I only recently (re-?)discovered that <aside>
and <mark>
are HTML5 elements. I’m sure I’ll glean some more HTML & CSS artifacts that I’ve long forgotten or are straight up new-to-me.
I love hearing from readers so please feel free to reach out.
