Inversion of Thought

Sometimes I find re-wording something makes it entirely less opaque and entirely more transparent. Concepts that never really “clicked” immediately make sense. The “aha!”, lightbulb, or “eureka!” moment.

Examples:

• Subtraction
  • Adding the opposite
• Division
  • Multiplying by the reciprocal
• Left-foot braking
  • Dedicating the right foot to the throttle
• The Update in CRUD
  • A Delete followed by a Create—two atomic operations
